Fatigue is when a person experiences a feeling of exhaustion. Chronic fatigue can occur due to many different underlying medical reasons, one of which is endometriosis. On this page, some of the conditions that chronic fatigue may be a symptom of are mentioned.
Hemochromatosis
In the past, this term was used in a different way than it is in modern times. Presently, the word used by itself typically means an iron overload which has a cause that is either primary, related to genetics, or brought on by a metabolic disorder. Sometimes, the word hemochromatosis is also used in a general way to refer to any kinds of iron overload.
An overload of iron occurs when too much iron builds up in the body, for any reason. Aside from fatigue, it can also present in other ways. The person may develop liver cirrhosis, in which things like scar tissue and fibrosis take the place of tissue from that organ. Arthritis, which is inflammation of the joints, may also affect the person.
Fibromyalgia
In this condition, pain affects the patient. It occurs in various areas throughout the body and is chronic in nature. Aside from pain, and of course fatigue, the patient may experience other symptoms. Joint stiffness is amongst the possibilities. The muscles may be affected by twitching. Sleep disturbances can also happen. Paresthesia may also affect the individual.
What leads to the development of fibromyalgia in a patient is not known. A few of the several things that may be linked to its development are genetics, stress, and physical trauma involving the neck. No specific test to diagnose fibromyalgia exists. Certain criteria can be used by a doctor in an attempt to make a diagnosis. Although there is no known way of curing the condition, various methods are available to try to manage it.
Infectious mononucleosis
This illness is another reason that exhaustion may occur. It is medically brought on by infection with the Epstein-Barr virus. The majority of people have already had exposure to this virus during their childhood. Infection at that time produces more mild symptoms, if any, that may resemble those of the flu. In adults, it can lead to a variety of symptoms. A sore throat and inflammation of the pharynx are both commonly seen. The same can be said for other symptoms, including fever, weight loss, and others. Swollen lymph nodes are also frequently noted. Hepatitis, which is inflammation of the liver, can also be present.
